Chairs Thompson and Clarke Statement on the Biden Administration’s New Cybersecurity Performance Goals
(WASHINGTON) – Today, Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), Chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security, and Rep. Yvette D. Clarke (D-NY), Chairwoman of the Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection, & Innovation released the following statement on the Biden Administration’s new cybersecurity performance goals and metrics designed to strengthen cybersecurity defenses for critical infrastructure and many other private sector entities across the country.
“This morning, the Biden Administration took another important, proactive step in securing our nation’s critical infrastructure against cyber threats. The Cybersecurity Performance Goals for Critical Infrastructure (CPGs) will help simplify security decisions for owners and operators, and set clear expectations about the baseline security controls that should be in place for essential services and functions. The CPGs are the product of months of collaboration between CISA, NIST, and the critical infrastructure community, and we look forward to engaging with the private sector to see how the CPG’s move the needle. We commend CISA and its Federal partners for their work on this critical effort and look forward to continuing to work with the Administration and the private sector to make critical infrastructure more secure and resilient.”
